Project Description:

Studio Relimite will use the intervention Relimite as a lens to look at the city.

At the cusp of 2004/5 City Mine(d) realized Relimite, an urban intervention in Belfast’s Botanic Gardens. Perceived by some as a statue, by others as a venue, Relimite is first and foremost an opportunity: a chance to highlights different social, political and cultural aspirations in the city and to capitalize upon the different connections that cross over in this project.

Relimite stands at the junction of a number of  local, metropolitan end even international links, which tie the intervention in networks of space, place and time. Those connections often remain invisible, unnoticed, and so their potential remains untapped.

Studio Relimite will investigate how the temporary structure Relimite can and could be used. It will test ways to inhabit it, at the same time it will look at functions in the city that could also take place in it, and the urban networks it would then fit into.  Connections the tower could make to other parts of the city, other cities and other moments in time will be unravelled, explored, and mapped out.
